For a large portion of the story, Carmine holds the belief that everyone looks out for themselves in themselves. Thus, they're generally disinterested in the people around them and are mainly focused on themselves. When it comes to socializing, it can be very apparent that they're inexperienced. This can cause them to be extremely blunt with other people at times, even sometimes to the extent of cutting them off to tell them that they don't care about what they're talking about. Why waste their time if they don't want to hear it?

While irritable, their anger generally doesn't extend beyond words unless they feel threatened in some way. Their actions on the outside often do not translate to how they feel, which can lead to a lot of pent up emotions. Despite this, however, they seem to have strong opinions on right and wrong, and will stand behind them vehemently if it's something they cares strongly about.
